Happy February Everyone!

Busy February!

Wow, so much is happening in February! There's Groundhog Day, the Super Bowl, Day 100, Valentine's Day, President's Day, and perhaps even birthdays!

I made these game boards for each of the big days. To make sure we kept working to develop our skills,

I made these cards to practice reading, spelling, and math skills.

Need a simple computer center that helps your students work on counting money?  My kids love this one.  It’s simply called Counting Money and it’s hosted by Harcourt School Publishers, but as of right now, it’s FREE, and I
play to use it a lot with my students this month!! Click on the picture so you can use it too!

Internet Scavenger Hunts

For two years, I was a computer specialist, and I was always trying to come up with new, great ways to allow students to use the computer, while integrating all the standards we have to teach anyways. One resource I created for my students and teachers were internet scavenger hunts. They became so popular, that lots of my teachers used them as their computer center on a regular basis.  The internet scavenger hunts that I created allowed my students to visit websites to find the answers to questions or activities on a given subject – specifically their science and social studies topics. The teachers liked them so much that I created them for all of the Science and Social Studies topics for grades K – 5, according to Georgia’s Standards.  They are all available on TPT for $3.00 each, and here are a couple of samples:

Free Geometry Foldable Nets!

These 3D Shapes are fun to make and available as a free download from Teachers Notebook and TpT.  Here's a really cute example of how I have integrated their use with the theme 'My Community'. Students used their shapes to represent buildings and landmarks in their community. Cones and pyramids can be used as trees and the other solids can represent buildings.

Skylar Skunk's Birthday Party--Ordinal Number Task Cards for Centers

I wanted to share this activity that I made to teach my students how to use ordinal numbers.  I have noticed that they have a hard time processing critical information from a given starting point to an ending point.  So, cute little Skylar Skunk gets to have a birthday party and is inviting all of his 29 friends!  Each character is depicted on a 'playing card' and can be moved around to create a picture of a story which includes ordinal number information.  My kids love the colors and and size of the cards.  When you download, please let me know what you think.  Also, when you get to use the cards in your classroom, leave me a comment to tell me how it went!  Also, be sure to come and visit me at my blog!
