Expository Writing in K-2

Are you ready to teach your students how to write expository texts?  I started how to writing a few weeks ago and my kiddos are having a ball thinking up topics that they can be "experts" on and tell us how to do something!
First we talked about what a "how to" is, why that type of writing is important, where we might see a "how to", and lastly, what words are usually included.  We made the anchor chart below.
I wanted to include an opportunity to practice this type of writing in my Work on Writing center, so I created a template for a 4 step how to.  Below is an example.

I put together a packet of 26 different topics.  Each one has the same layout, 4 boxes for illustrating each step, and a graphic relating to the topic.  You can find them by clicking the image below!

Enjoy!!
